GREEN PEAK

What does
Green Peak stand for?

Leadership gets harder when the answers aren't obvious.

Most leadership situations don't arrive neatly packaged as:

“Today I'd like to improve my delegation competency.”

They arrive as:

“Why have they done that?”

“How on earth do I say this?”

“Should I step in?”

“Why am I still thinking about this at 11 o'clock at night?”

Green Peak starts there.

With the real situation.

Why does space matter?

Working days are busy.

Messages arrive.

Meetings stack up.

Something is always urgent.

And the leadership questions that matter most are often the ones that need more thinking, not faster reacting.

Coaching creates some room around them.

Time to reflect.

Time to notice what you might be missing.

Time to separate what you know from what you're assuming.

Time to work out what you can influence.

And then time to decide.

Underneath the coaching is a fairly simple progression:

Trust → Reflection → Self-awareness → Action

Not because leadership needs another branded framework.

Because better thinking tends to lead to better choices.

Callum Repper.jpg

Callum Repper, who I've worked with and supported, described the environments I create as:

“engaging, challenging, whilst allowing space for open discussion & expression.”

That's exactly the balance I'm after.

Who is Tim?

I'm Tim Rawlinson.

I've spent much of my working life around leadership, people and situations where there wasn't always an obvious answer.

I spent 20 years as a British Army officer, leading people in demanding environments and learning — occasionally the hard way — that people rarely behave exactly as the leadership textbook suggests.

Since leaving the Army I've worked in leadership development and high-performance sport, including with UK Sport and the UK Sports Institute.

Alongside that I've spent years coaching and mentoring leaders, managers, coaches and people navigating periods of change.

I'm a qualified executive coach, with a Postgraduate Certificate in Executive Coaching & Mentoring, and I'm a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership.

All of that gives me experience and perspective.

It doesn't mean I know your answer.

Will Tim understand my world?

Possibly not in every detail.

Messages arrive.

Meetings stack up.

Something is always urgent.

And the leadership questions that matter most are often the ones that need more thinking, not faster reacting.

Coaching creates some room around them.

Dan Bolas.jpg

Dan Bolas, who I mentored while he was working as an Academy Manager, put this particularly well. He said our backgrounds and experiences differed greatly, but that my ability to:

“relate and empathise”

with the situations he was facing was beneficial and had a positive influence on him as both a person and a leader.

I've worked across the military, sport, leadership development, business, coaching and mentoring.

Different environments.

Different pressures.

Different people.

One thing that has taught me is that there isn't one correct way to lead. So I won't try to turn your workplace into the Army or tell you what elite sport would do.

We'll work with your world.

What is it actually like to work with Tim?

People describe it rather better than I can.

Rhys Ingram.jpg
Luke Sweet.jpg
Benjamin Young.jpg

Rhys Ingram, who I've worked with through leadership development and follow-up coaching, described my approach simply as:

“person centred”

and said the environment encourages learning that actually sticks.

Luke Sweet, who I've worked alongside, described my style as:

“Mature, flexible, pragmatic, engaging.”

He also described the atmosphere as relaxed while still encouraging development.

Benjamin Young, who has taken part in leadership work I've led, said I created an environment that:

“felt safe but equally created appropriate challenge.”

Those three things — person-centred, pragmatic and appropriately challenging — are probably a better description of my style than a paragraph of coaching jargon.

Does your experience change how you coach?

Green Peak_edited.jpg

Of course.

But experience should create perspective, not certainty.

I've led people.

I've got things right.

I've got things wrong.

I've seen leadership when the stakes were genuinely high.

I've spent years helping other people develop.

And I've worked with enough leadership theories to know that no model survives every human being it encounters.

That means I'm comfortable with messy situations.

I'm comfortable when there isn't an obvious answer.

And I'm comfortable giving you time to think rather than rushing in to prove that I have one.

Courtney Pitt.jpg

Courtney Pitt, who I've worked with in leadership development, described me as:

“candid, thoughtful”

and committed to helping people develop in ways that genuinely improve performance. That feels about right.

What won't I get?

A guru.

A lecture about how I used to do things.

A giant folder of leadership models.

Someone agreeing with everything you say.

Or a promise to unlock your limitless potential.

Some leadership situations are just difficult.

We can call them difficult.

Then work out what you're going to do about them.

What does the Green Peak identity mean?

Growth is part of it.

But not in a relentless “reach the summit!” kind of way.

People develop over time.

Sometimes by stretching themselves.

Sometimes by stopping and thinking.

Sometimes by trying something and getting it wrong.

Sometimes simply by seeing a familiar situation differently.

That's why the Green Peak identity is a landscape rather than a finish line.

A seed becomes a tree.

The mountain sits in the background.

The person doesn't need to conquer it.

They grow in the landscape they're already in.

Mountain Climbing Teamwork

Got a sense of me?

Good.

The next question is whether talking would actually help with whatever is happening for you.

There's a fairly easy way to find out.

You've got a difficult situation. Let's work out what's really happening, what you can influence and what you're going to do about it.
